Died: July 28, 2013

Ruth Henry Gray, age 95, of the Orebank community, Mosheim, passed away Sunday morning at Laughlin Healthcare Center.

She was born Mary Ruth Henry on Dec. 13, 1917, a daughter of the late Clark and Ethel Luttrell Henry. She was one of nine children.

Mrs. Gray was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and attended as long as her health permitted.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed sharing her canned fruits, vegetables, and handmade quilts with her family.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Jerry and Pauline Gray of Rogersville and Nick and Mary Jane Gray of Midway; grandchildren and spouses: Angela Dixon of Knoxville, Susan Gray of Surgoinsville, Rebecca and Richie Cobble of Mohawk, and Nathan and Sarah Gray of Mosheim; eight great-grandchildren: Forrest and Teryn Dixon of Knoxville, Darci Kirkpatrick of Surgoinsville, Rachel, Reuben, Ruth, and Richard Cobble, all of Mohawk, and Emma Joan Gray of Mosheim; one sister: Anna Owens of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Virgie Gray of Greeneville, Mary McCamey of Mosheim, Anna Hutton of Greeneville, Don and Josie Gray of Chuckey, and Hubert and Grace Gray of Mosheim.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years: George Howard Gray in 2011; son: Jack Gray in 2010; an infant daughter; brothers: Elbert Henry, Homer "Doc" Henry, and Robert Henry; and sisters: Etta Gregg, Asalee Sauls, Ruby Gregg and Minnie Hensley.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pine Grove UM Church. The Rev. James Fain will officiate.

Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes before the service.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Gray, Richie Cobble, Forrest Dixon, Donnie Henry, Dave Henry, and Mike Luttrell.

The Gray family extends special thanks to the staff of Laughlin HealthCare Center and Caris Healthcare for their love, care, and support.

Memorials may be made to Pine Grove Cemetery Fund, c/o Pat Clowers, 2020 Little Warrensburg Road, Midway, TN 37809.
