Died: July 27, 2013

Mitzi VanDella Bible, age 77, of Greeneville, died Saturday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Bible enjoyed her work as a genealogist at the T. Elmer Cox Historical & Genealogical Library.

She also was an original performer with the Fabulous Fifties and an amateur Thespian.

Mrs. Bible was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include four children: Earl C. Bible and wife, Deborah, Billie Joe Bible II and wife, Michelle Wardle, Charles "Marty" Bible and wife, Linda, and Mitzi Lee Vaughn and husband, Michael; nine grandchildren and spouses: Brandon A. and Heather Johnson, Kristen M. and Aaron Caton, Bryan E. and Sonya Bible, Nicholas M. Bible, Christopher N. Bible, Tommy Lee and Jane McLain, Andrew L. and Stephanie McLain, James M. Vaughn, and Colt A. Vaughn; six great-grandchildren: Wyatt Earl Bible, Nicole McLain, John McLain, Robbie McLain, Ashe McLain, and Benjamin McLain; two sisters: Sara Cullison and Phyllis Stansfield; two brothers: Clyde Brooks and Charles Brooks; special nephews: Buddy Colyer and Butch Legg; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friends: Mark Laughlin, Larry Keller, Tom and Katie Smith, Don Miller, Alice Loftin, Glenda Huntsman, and the members of the Fabulous Fifties; and special companions, her dogs: Lilly and Snoopy.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Billie Joe Bible; mother: Elvie Slater; father: Clyde Brooks; and a grandson: Jessie McLain.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow visitation at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. David Gass will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the T. Elmer Cox Historical & Genealogical Library, 229 N. Main St., Greeneville, TN 37745.
