Dewey R. Dyer

Died: July 30, 2013

Dewey R. Dyer, 87, of Greeneville, passed away Tuesday at Life Care Center of Greeneville.

Mr. Dyer retired from Nabisco.

He was a member of First Christian Church.

Mr. Dyer was a World War II veteran, and a member of the Moose Lodge and the VFW.

He was a very avid golfer and a longtime member of the East Tennessee Senior Golf Association and a charter member of the Nolichucky View Golf Course.

Survivors include a beloved nephew: Steve Shields; a beloved niece: Delores Green; numerous other nieces and nephews; a special friend and caregiver: Linda Cutshaw; and his special friends: Ron and Patty Bergquist, Harold and Janice Waddle, Rex Snelson, Greg Sayler, Jack Kilday, Marshall Brown, Glenn Heines, Eual Shelton, Bob Gay, and his friends at First Christian Church.

He was the son of the late Lee Elbert and Minnie L. Dyer and was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years: Betty Dyer; four sisters: Pauline Barry, Ruby Smith, Beulah Damewood and Bessie Hurley; and four brothers: Clarence, Clifford, Earnest and Lorn Dyer.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 7 p.m. in the chapel. Jeff McNabb, minister, and Gene Wood, minister, will officiate.

Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel in Knoxville for an 11 a.m. committal service in Lynnhurst Cemetery.
