Died: Aug. 9, 2013

FALL BRANCH -- Malana Cox Jobe, 39, formerly of Fall Branch, went to be with the Lord Friday at the Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness with MS (multiple sclerosis).

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." -- Romans 10:13.

Malana was born in Fort Bragg, N.C., and resided in the Fall Branch area for many years.

She had worked at Indian Path Medical Center for several years.

Malana was of the Baptist faith.

She was a fan of the New Orleans Saints and was an avid NASCAR fan.

She was preceded in death by her father, Venice F. Cox; maternal grandmother, Anna L. Kolarsky; an aunt, Deborah Coates; and an uncle, George Coates.

Malana is survived by her son: J.T. Cox of Fall Branch; mother: Donna Byington and husband, the Rev. Fred, of Fall Branch; sister: Theresa Word and husband, Jason, of Houston, Texas; two aunts: Peggy Welsh and husband, Ron, of Houston, and Dee Dee Booher and husband, Anthony, of Blountville; two uncles: Mark Kolarsky and wife, Lori, and Steve Kolarsky, all of Fall Branch; a stepsister: Margaret Souder and husband, Duane, of Rising Sun, Md.; a stepbrother: Chad Byington and wife, Missy, of Kingsport; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch, with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. The Rev. Garland Tipton and the Rev. Rick Collins will officiate.

A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Howard Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Melvin Lawhorn, Carl Lawhorn, Jason Coates, George Coates, and Tyler Kolarsky.
