Died: Aug. 17, 2013

Mary Kate Byington, 77, of Kingsport, died Saturday at her home.

She was of the Free Will Baptist faith.

Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law: Patricia Edwards of Baileyton, Betty and Roger Quillen of Kingsport, Rhonda and Jimmy Edwards of Kingsport, and Joann and Allen Babb of Baileyton; 11 grandchildren: Ann Jeffers, Mary O'Neil, Earl Malone, Keith Malone, Nicole Norton, David Edwards, Richard Quillen, Wendy Foster, Jimmy James Edwards, Rhonda Faye Edwards, and Samantha Babb; three sisters: Dorothy Davis of Greeneville, Nora and Buddy Tweed of Jonesborough, and Elaine Hall of Sevierville; five brothers: Nolan Gross of Afton, Keith Gross of Nashville, Fred and Peggy Gross of Greenshed, Roger and Nancy Gross of Greeneville, and Gary Gross of Hawkins County; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Peggy Gross of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Garnie Byington; twin sons: Don and Earl Byington; a daughter: Martha Nell Byington; three sisters: Bessie Stapleton, Maxine Alvis, and Louise Gross; two brothers: Charlie Gross and Ralph Gross; her parents: Eckel and Zelma Gross; and a son-in-law: Jackie Edwards.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, downtown.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Liberty Hill United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Edd Davis will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Quillen, Tony Quillen, Anthony Quillen, Lloyd Ricker, Mike Quillen, Rocky Gross, Ricky Tweed, and Timmy Tweed.

Keith Malone, Earl Malone will be honorary pallbearers.
