Mary Edith Combs Grinstead

Died: Aug. 22, 2013

Mary Edith Combs Grinstead, 87, of Greeneville, passed away Thursday at her home.

Born Jan. 14, 1926, in Greene County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Clark Combs and Hassie Pearl Lena Honeycutt Combs.

Mary Lived in Greene County until her marriage on May 20, 1951, to Earl William Grinstead. She lived in New Jersey, California, and Charleston, S.C., then moved back to Greeneville after Earl's death in 1973.

Survivors include her daughters: Patricia (Drane) Norris of Charleston and Peggy (Tom) Perez of Chuckey; her sons: William (Lisa) Grinstead of Limestone and Gus (Rhonda) Grinstead of Greeneville; her grandchildren: Andy Dunning of Tampa, Fla., Katie Zirkelback of Washington, D.C., Gabriel Perez of Chuckey, and Cameron Grinstead, Jordan Perez, Michael Grinstead, Meghan Gunn, and Rusty Grinstead, all of Greeneville; her great-grandchildren: Aubrey Hart, Kellan Grinstead, and Bentley Starnes of Greeneville; two brothers: Stewart (Margaret) Combs of Lompoc, Calif., and Dale (Carolyn) Combs of Lenoir City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; her youngest daughter, Pamela; two brothers, James and JC; and a sister, Myrvus Brown.

A special thanks is extended by the family to Smoky Mountain Home Health for the excellent care and counseling and Laughlin HealthCare Center.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Smoky Mountain Home Health, 1117 Tusculum Blvd., Greeneville, TN 37745.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery.

Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
