Carolyn Elizabeth Miller

Died: Oct. 2, 2013

Carolyn Elizabeth Miller, 74, of Amity Road, Greeneville, passed away Wednesday evening at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Miller retired from Hurd Lock after 38 years of service.

She was a member of Amity Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Miller was the widow of Bobby Miller.

Survivors include a brother and two sisters-in-law: Drew and Patsy Wells and Carolyn Wells of Greeneville; a special niece: Keema Wells of Greeneville; her special nephews: Dwayne Wells and wife, Ruth, Johnny Miller, and Jeffery Miller; a special great-niece: Nicolle Wells; two brothers-in-law: Lyle Miller and wife, Patricia, and Keith Miller and wife, Wanda; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was a daughter of the late John C. and Norman G. Fillers Wells and was preceded in death by a brother, David Wells.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel. Dr. Dan Donaldson, the Rev. Jackie Riddle, the Rev. Carol Baird, and the Rev. John Catts will officiate.

A committal service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.

Family and any friends who would like to join the family to go in procession to the cemetery will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Wells, Ronnie Wilhoit, Johnny Miller, Jeffery Miller, Joe Byrd, John Jarnagin, and Bobby Wells.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Wells, John Burley, Lyle Miller, Jack Johnson, Linnie Gillespie, Keith Miller, George Fillers, Glendon Ottinger, Jay Riddle, Carl Duncan, Lee Walker, Mark Roberts, Arlin Bowers, Hugh Wells, Bobby G. Wells, Hattie Wykle, Wilma Tweed, Fayetta Jones, Ruth Gilliam, Oscar Payne, Douglas Payne, Matthew Hensley, Dr. Brad Strange, the staff and nurses of 4-East at Laughlin Memorial Hospital, the staff and nurses at Laughlin HealthCare Center, the nurses and staff of Caris Hospice, and the members of the Meet and Greet Group.

In lieu of food and flowers, it is requested that memorials be made to Amity Presbyterian Church, c/o Betty Burley, 2920 Whirlwind Road, Greeneville, TN 37743.

Mattie Lou Broyles Snapp

Mattie Lou Broyles Snapp, 85, of the Cedar Grove community, died Friday at the Johnson City Medical Center.

She was a lifelong member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Snapp was an employee of the former George C. Moore Co. and retired from Greene Valley Developmental Center.

She was much loved by her children and grandchildren.

She was always ready to lend a helping hand if needed and was an inspiration to all those who knew her.

Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law: Elizabeth and Jake Gross, and Nancy and Bob Helbert of Cedar Grove; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Charles and Debbi Snapp of Greeneville, and Quintin Snapp of Cedar Grove and special friend Leisa Riddle; five grandchildren: Nanette and Butch Shaw, Deadra and Randy Salts, Angela and John McInturff, Jeremy and Wyndi Snapp, and Lisa Moore and fiancé Ricky Crain; great-grandchildren: Betsy Shaw, Will Shaw, Katie Salts, Ben McInturff, Madi McInturff, Marissa Snapp, Macey Snapp, Dustin Moore and Dalton Moore; one great-great-granddaughter: Amanda Moore; stepgrandchildren: Daniel and Lisa Gross, Lance Fezell, Lindsey Rollins, and Rebecca Bell; and three sisters-in-law: Emma Renner, Fannie Bennett and Bernice Snapp.

She was preceded in death by her husband: William "Bill" Snapp; and parents: Marion E. and Lucy Broyles.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. today at Jeffers Funeral Chapel in Afton.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Grove UM Church with interment in the church cemetery.

The Rev. Walter Isley and the Rev. Joe Miller will officiate.

The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes before the service on Sunday.

Pallbearers will be Bob Smith, Lanny Love, Tim Armstrong, Keith Roberts, Joe Bitner, and Ronnie Love.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends and members of Cedar Grove Church.

Donations may be made to Cedar Grove Cemetery Fund.
