BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Jason Ferrell, 36, of Bristol, went to be with the Lord Friday following injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Dallas, Texas.

He was born June 11, 1977, in Bristol.

Jason was a member of Addilynn Memorial United Methodist Church and had been working in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for the past year in construction.

Jason had a great love for fishing and was known as a friend to all with whom he came in contact.

Jason was preceded in death by his mother: Shirley Denney Ferrell; his maternal grandparents: Austin and Ruth Denney; his paternal grandparents: George and Blanche Ferrell; and his stepgrandparents: Kenneth and Vernell Smithson.

Survivors include his father and stepmother: Les and Carolyn Ferrell; his son: Austin Smith; his daughter: Angelita "Angel" Ferrell of Oregon and her brother, Manny Massengill; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Leslie and Stan Bowman and Laralee and Freddy Harkleroad; his nieces and nephews: Jesse Bowman, Zachary Bowman, Ally Bowman, Kameron Harkleroad and Barron Harkleroad; and two foster sisters from his youth: Tammy Teaster and Teresa Brissett. He also leaves behind several loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and many special friends in Texas and Oregon.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Addilynn Memorial UM Church with the Rev. Lloyd Jones and the Rev. Jeff Moncier officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. before the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Addilynn Memorial UM Church, 3225 Avoca Road, Bristol, TN 37620.

Oakley-Cook Funeral Home in Bristol is in charge of arrangements.
