Frances Harrison Tuttle

Died: Oct. 10, 2013

REIDSVILLE, N.C. -- Frances Harrison Tuttle, 95, of Reid School Road, Reidsville, went to be with the Lord Thursday at the Carolina House of Reidsville.

A native of Greeneville, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Francis M. and Lillie Farnsworth Harrison and had lived in North Carolina since 1939.

A graduate of Berea College in Berea, Ky., she was a retired teacher with 36 years of service, having taught at Bethany School, Wentworth School and Reidsville Junior High School.

After retiring from teaching, she worked for a few years as a Realtor with Clifton Realty Company, and was a former member of The Reidsville A.B.W.A., the N.E.A. and the N.C.A.E.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years: G. Warren Tuttle of the home; a daughter: Sylvia Tuttle Brookshire (Donald) of Mount Airy; a granddaughter: Stacie Marie Brookshire (Matt Taylor) of Winston-Salem; a great-granddaughter: Rylan Emery Taylor; her sisters-in-law: Louise T. Stadler and Pat Tuttle, both of Reidsville; her special friends: Miriam Aikens and husband, Norris, of Reidsville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Tuttle was preceded in death by an infant son: Victor Harrison Tuttle; three sisters: Ruth Jones, Mary Lee Bowman, and Claudia Webb; and two brothers: Wilbur Harrison and an infant.

The family will see friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Citty Funeral Home, 308 Lindsey St., Reidsville, and other times at the residence.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in Reidlawn Cemetery.

The family expressed thanks to the staff and management of Carolina House of Reidsville for their care and concern during Mrs. Tuttle's illness.
