Died: Oct. 15, 2013

ERWIN -- Duck Arrington, age 82, of Greeneville, formerly of Flag Pond, passed away Tuesday at his home.

He was born Feb. 6, 1931, in Flag Pond and was a native of Greeneville. He was a son of the late Robert and Minnie Rice Arrington.

Duck was an officer with the Madison County Sheriff's Department, was a tree trimmer in Indiana, and later worked for a private protective service as a security guard.

He was of the Church of God Faith.

Duck was preceded in death by his first wife: Jeanette Crum; second wife: Mary Lou Arrington; two sisters: Pearl Gunter and Bessie Arrington; a very special brother: Henry Arrington; three brothers: Joe, Nelson, and Willie Arrington; and a stepgranddaughter: Crystal Riddle.

Duck has left behind to cherish his memory a special son-in-law: Luther Crum of Flag Pond; a special caregiver and stepson-in-law: Buster Johnson and his wife, Jearldine, of Greeneville; several stepsons and stepdaughters; his stepgrandchildren: Heather Stokely, Brandon Ramsey, Andrew Johnson, Jayden Johnson, Dustin Haynes, Charles Haynes, Ashley Haynes, Skyler Roberts, Lucas Riddle, Melissa Hughes, and Adam Johnson; his special friends: Tommy Bullard, Trula and Robert Dunbar, Pim and Janie Gosnell, Robert Reece, and Sammy Stokely.

The family expressed special thanks to Dr. Margo Clemmons and staff for their care.

The life of Duck Arrington will be remembered and honored in a funeral service to be held at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. The Rev. Bullard will officiate.

A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5 p.m. and continue until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

A graveside committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Greystone Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Family and friends will meet at 1:50 p.m. at the cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Dustin Haynes, Charles Haynes, Buster Johnson, Brandon Ramsey, Lucas Riddle, and Brad Riddle.
