Frances 'Mae' Hampton

Died: Dec. 17, 2013

Frances "Mae" Hampton, 76, of Greene Ridge Loop, Afton, passed away at 7 a.m. Tuesday at Life Care Center of Greeneville.

She was a housewife and enjoyed gardening and her grandchildren.

She attended Greene Ridge Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Ricky and Aleshia Hampton and Roger and Donna Hampton, all of Afton; three grandchildren and their spouses: Kelley and Jon Skidmore, Andrew and Katrina Hampton, and Megan and Eben Murdock; one great-granddaughter: Raegan Skidmore; two sisters: Bonny Hensley and Gearldine Church; several nieces and nephews; special caregiver: Betty Hensley; and special friends: Clark and Phyllis Hensley, Tommy and Linda Bowman, Brenda Reaves, and Sandy Seaton.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Marvin "Blimp" Hampton; one granddaughter: Jessica Hampton; parents: Jack and Kate Hensley; brothers: Robert "Dicky" Penley and Calvin Hensley; and two sisters: Brenda "Eloise" Wills and Rita Havens.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow visitation at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Gene Swatzell and the Rev. Jeffrey Daugherty will officiate.

Family and friends will meet at Doughty-Stevens at 1 p.m. Thursday to go in procession to Union Chapel Cemetery for a 2 p.m. committal service.

Active pallbearers will be Andrew Hampton, Jon Skidmore, Eben Murdock, Clark Hensley, Roger Hensley, Kevin Hensley, and Jackie Shanks.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Greene Ridge Free Will Baptist Church, Tommy Bowman, Ben Ware, Rusty Shanks, and Alan Bookhamer.

The family expressed a special thanks to the staff of Life Care Center of Greeneville.
