Clarence 'Hoot' Gibson

Died: Dec. 18, 2013

Clarence E. "Hoot" Gibson, 85, of the Clear Springs Community, passed away Wednesday at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Mr. Gibson retired after 42 years from Philips (Magnavox).

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was an avid golfer.

Mr. Gibson had been a member of Moose Lodge No. 692 of 54 years.

Survivors include two daughters: Kathryn Casteel and Cynthia Hopson of Cartersville, Ga.; five grandchildren: Cristy Moody and husband, Tim, Todd Campbell, Kaitlin Casteel, Heath Hopson and wife, Brenda, and Ashley Taylor and husband, Jason; seven great-grandchildren: Zack Moody, Courtney Haney, Caleb Moody, Kim Hopson, Heath Hopson Jr., Andrew Hopson, and Annabeth Taylor; a sister: Alma Shelton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Norma Gibson; his parents: Clarence Gibson Sr. and Omega Gibson; and three sisters: Doris Hyder, Mildred Jones, and Joanne Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, Afton Chapel.

The Loyal Order of the Moose will conduct a service at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Afton Chapel. The funeral service will follow with the Rev. Dixie Miller officiating.

Interment will be in GraceLand Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Todd Campbell, Tim Moody, David Casteel, Jerry Ward, Jerry Wilhite, and Ron Bergquist.
