Catherine Ferguson Hulse

Died: Dec. 31, 2013

JONESBOROUGH - Catherine Ferguson Hulse, age 100, finished her celebration in this life on Tuesday at the Franklin Woods Community Hospital to begin a new celebration.

Mrs. Hulse was born in Washington County and was a daughter of the late Charles and Etsel Miles Ferguson.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Beryl A. Hulse, a brother, Summer Ferguson, and a granddaughter, Robin Casey Hyatt.

She was an active lifetime member of Mount Wesley United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Hulse was a 25-year active member of the Conklin Ruritan Club and was honored by Ruritan National on her 100th birthday for her years of community service.

She was an avid Atlanta Braves and NASCAR fan, affectionately known as "Granny Bandit," a nickname given to her by Harry Gant.

She also enjoyed a good Western on TV.

Survivors include: her daughter: Anna Hulse Casey Wooden of Jonesborough; a granddaughter: Starlene Casey of Lawrenceville, Ga.; four great-grandsons: Daniel Casey of Jonesborough, and Ben Hyatt, Nick Hyatt and Zack Hyatt, all of Greeneville; a great-great-granddaughter: Sadie Hyatt of Greeneville; sisters-in-law: Ruth Ann McKee Ferguson of Jonesborough and Louise Hulse of Johnson City; special cousins: Keith Pierce, Don Miles, Marie Reeves, Evelyn Miller and Phyllis Croyle; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Dolene Barnes and the Barnes family, Bill and Kathryn Slemons, Jane Wright, Jane Dillow, Clyde and Martha Tipton, and Darrell and Sandra Rowe.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jeremy Dykes and the Rev. Jeff Talent officiating.

Music will be provided by Paul Masters and Sharon Lewis.

Interment will follow at Mount Wesley Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Charles Ferguson, Chip Green, Robbie Waddle, Hunter Waddle, Alan Jackson, Charles Estep, Brownie King and Paul Lewis.
