Died: Jan. 11, 2014

JONESBOROUGH -- Gerald H. Monaghan, age 93, Limestone, passed away Saturday Jan. 11, at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Gerald was a native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and was the son of the late George and Mary George Monaghan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elzabeth Weber Monaghan, three brothers, and two sisters.

Gerald was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. The highlight of his life in the past few years was going to the 368th Fighter Group reunions.

He was a retired auto store manager and had also managed an Esso Gas Station.

Gerald was a "Jack Of All Trades" and enjoyed people.

Survivors include one daughter: Karen Wrey and husband, Gary; one son: Gerald F. Monaghan and wife, Deborah; five grandchildren: Patrick G. Monaghan and wife, Kristi, Kendall W. Wrey and fiancée, Chi Tran, Phillip W. Wrey and wife, Denise, Lori S. Hensley, and D. Scott Wrey and wife, Jann; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
