Died: Jan. 18, 2014

Amy Kathryn Balding, 41, went to be with the Lord Saturday at her home in Rheatown.

She was preceded in death by her father, James H. Balding, in February 2006, and mother, Peggy McCurry, in May 2000.

Surviving are her daughter: Mattie Kathryn Smith; and her brother: James "Jimmy" Balding, both of Telford. Also surviving are an uncle: R.L. Balding; her aunts: Mary Sue Balding, Mary Holland of Knoxville, and Betty Baxter of Lewisburg, and several cousins.

She graduated from Davy Crockett High in 1991 and attended Walters State Community College.

Amy was a member of Rheatown of United Methodist Church.

In her youth, she was an active member of 4-H and FFA.

She was a member and officer of the Davy Crockett Chapter of FFA in 1993. She received the American Farmer Degree.

Amy was very active in showing cattle. In 1991, she represented Tennessee as the Tennessee Jersey Queen at the North American Livestock Expo in Louisville, Ky.

She was an active team roper and was a member of the U.S. Team Roping Championships, having owned and worked several good horses.

One of her passions was dance. She was a student and staff member of White School of Dance in Jonesborough. Of all her accomplishments, her greatest was her daughter, Mattie.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rheatown UM Church, with the service following at 2 p.m.. The Rev. Eddie Malone and the Rev. Randall Emmert will officiate.

Interment will follow in Rheatown Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mark Brown, Tim Buckingham, Robert Scarlett, Robert Ledford, Jeff Hammonds, and Robert Rodgers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Alex C. Smith and Travis Sanders.

Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
