Died: Jan. 19, 2014

MARSHALL, N.C. - George Patterson Jr., 85, of Marshall, passed away Sunday at the Charles George V.A. Medical Center.

George was born Nov. 1, 1928, in Madison County.

He was a member of Belva Baptist Church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George Patterson Sr. and Roxie Norton Patterson; a brother, Lewis Patterson; and a great-granddaughter, Rylee Davis.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years: Robbie Cutshall Patterson, of the home; sons: Freddy Patterson (Tresa) and Larry Patterson (Toni), all of Marshall; three grandchildren: Jill Davis (Phillip) and McClellan and Laressa Patterson; one great-grandson: Cael Davis; two sisters: Juanita Stump and Thelma Keith; and a special friend: Red Watford.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Middle Laurel Church of God with the Rev. Winfred Shelton and the Rev. Keith Edwards officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the church prior to the service.

Burial will be private in the Cutshall Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department, Hwy. 212, Marshall, NC 28753, or to the Cutshall Cemetery Fund, c/o Robbie Patterson, 824 Cutshall Town Road, Marshall, NC 28753.
