Died: Jan. 23, 2014

BLOUNTVILLE -- Loyce Denver Shelton, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday at the Life Care Center at Gray.

Loyce was born in Greene County and lived in the Clear Springs Community until 1962, when he moved to Kingsport. He was the son of the late Charlie and Lona Bell Shelton.

Loyce served two years in the U.S. Army and was employed by Pet Dairy until his retirement with 41 years of service.

He attended Jearoldstown United Methodist Church in Greene County.

Loyce is survived by his wife of 60 years: Ida Sue Shelton; two sons: Jerry Lynn Shelton and wife, Donna (Ford) Shelton, of Kingsport, and Eddie Denver Shelton and wife, Pat (Dalton) Shelton, of Dandridge; one daughter: Mary Lois Ramsey of Morristown; three grandchildren: Derek Denver Shelton and fiancée, Amanda Wedemeyer, of Fall Branch, Heather Marie Shelton of Kingsport, and Nicki Sue Ann (Shelton) Ball and husband, Wesley, of Morristown; one great-granddaughter: Ansley Sarah Ball; sisters-in-law: Pauline Shelton of Parrottsville and Ella Shelton of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Edison, Bernard, and Charles Oliver Shelton, and two sisters-in-law: Eliza and Flora Mae Shelton, all of Greeneville.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Tri-Cities Funeral Home, Blountville Chapel. Services will be held at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Bowers officiating. Special music will be provided by Ron Eatmon and Rev. Bowers.

Military committal services will be conducted on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens Mausoleum by American Legion, Hammond Post No. 3 and Gate City No. 265.

Honorary pallbearers will be Earnest Bowman, Doug Breeding, Boyd Cyphers, Larry Dingus, Steve Jones, Chris Rogers, Charles Earnest Shelton, Eual Shelton, Joe Taylor, and Randy Renner.

The family extends a special "thank you" to Dr. Daniel Carroll and his staff, the doctors and nurses of the second floor CICU along with the doctors and nurses on the third floor at Wilcox Hall and the staff of Nurses Station 1 at Life Care for the devotion and care given to Loyce.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Turner Syndrome Society, 1125 West Road, Suite G, Houston, TX 77065 (Memo: Loyce Shelton), or to the Jearoldstown UM Church, c/o Rev. Richard Bowers, 1825 Woolsey Road, Greeneville, TN 37745.
