Carl Franklin Harkins Sr., 88, of Morning Pointe of Greeneville, died Saturday afternoon at is home.

His family stated, "He was a faithful member of Reformation Lutheran Church. He was an avid golfer and bowler and was retired from MECO.

"He was a loving and devoted 'daddy' and was a loving and devoted husband to Carolyn, who passed away in 1989, after their marriage of 43 years."

He is survived by his daughters: Kathy Knight and Susan Price, both of Greeneville; a son and daughter-in-law: Frank Harkins Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Austin, Texas; a stepson and his wife: Jerry and Margaret Tear of Monroe, N.C.; a grandson: Mike Knight of Nashville; a granddaughter: Melissa Woolsey of Austin, Texas; several stepgrandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law: Jack and Gerta Harkins, and a sister: Mary Jane Barb, all of Bristol; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a son of the late Jim and Nina Harkins, and was preceded in death by two brothers: Louis Harkins and Charlie Harkins.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill Funeral Home.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning in Reformation Lutheran Church. Pastor Rick Ohsiek will officiate.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Brad Strange, his fellow golfers, his fellow bowlers, his fellow card buddies, the staff and residents of Morning Pointe, and the members of the various singing groups he often joined to entertain at Morning Pointe.
