Larry Don Pickering Died: May 14, 2008 Larry Don "Papaw Fishy" Pickering, 78, of Fish Hatchery Road, Morristown, formerly of Greeneville, died "peacefully" Wednesday at his home, one day after his 78th birthday, his family noted. Mr. Pickering had worked for Swift of Johnson City, Greeneville Ice and Cold Storage, and retired from the former Doehler-Jarvis. He was the widower of Clairy Kathaleen Shipley Pickering, who died April 15, 2003. Mr. Pickering is survived by his five children and their spouses: Deborah Bryant, Teresa and Bob Webb, Bobby Pickering, and Carol Dalton, all of Morristown, Kenneth and Cathy Jeanean Pickering of Greeneville, and David and Judy Pickering of Strawberry Plains; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Sylvia June Pickle of Greeneville and Shannon Christon of Canada. He had a very special cat, his "baby 'Precious.'" He was preceded in death by one daughter: Georgia Marie Pickering; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; his parents: Georgia Chapman and Rob Eades; one sister, Hazel Pickering; and three brothers: Kenneth Pickering, Bill Pickering, and Joe Pickering. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. J.R. McElwain will officiate. Interment will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scotty Pickering, Douglas Allison, Tim Freeman, Eddie Pickering, Larry Pickering, and Anthony Pickering. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Adventa Hospice, Lakeway Regional Hospital, Life Care Center of Morristown, and Takoma Regional Hospital, and Dr. Michael Odell and his staff.
