Michael D. Sams Died: July 19, 2008 Michael D. Sams, 52, of Tweed Springs Road, Greeneville, died Saturday afternoon at Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Sams was a supervisor at Huf North America. He was a member of Victory Church of God, where he served as the youth leader. Survivors include his wife: Debbie Tweed Sams; his two sons: Derek Sams and Ethan Sams, both of the home; his mother: Dollie Sams of Greene County; his brother and sister-in-law: Ricky and Melinda Sams of Greene County; his sisters and brothers-in-law: Sandy and Terry Pruitt and Sherry and Anthony Arrington, all of Greene County; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Randy and Tammy Tweed, Kurt and Carolyn Buech, Larry and Patsy Tuntland, Hugh and Peggy Tweed, Keith Tweed, David and Nancy Tweed, and Lloyd and Ruth Tarlton, all of Greene County, and Steve and Brandy Tweed and Don and Freda Tweed, all of Sevierville; several nieces and nephews, including special nieces and nephews: Brittany Pruitt, Michael Tweed, Jamie Trammell, Cody Trammell, Randall Tweed, Daniel Tweed, Trevor Tweed, Sandra McAmis, Becky Waddell, Kim Hawk, Jeff Barnett, and Bronson Buech; a number of aunts and uncles, including his special aunt and uncles: Claude and Shirley Hurd and David Hurd, all of Greene County; and a special friend: Don Busler. He was a son of the late Billy Sams and was preceded in death by his special grandparents, Dink and Ruth Hurd, who helped raise him. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today and Tuesday at Kiser Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at Victory Church of God. The Rev. Jimmy Fillers and the Rev. Richard Long will officiate. Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Pat Dickey, Tim Mitchell, Shane Patterson, Mike Lane, Jonathan Waddell, Fred Daniels, Lyle McAmis, and John Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Youth Group of Victory Church of God, his fellow employees of Huf North America, his special friends from the Orebank community, and the former employees of Hurd Lock Company.
