Ira Taylor Bowman, 91, of Whitehouse Road, Greeneville, died Wednesday at Signature HealthCARE of Greeneville.

Mr. Bowman retired from the former Sam Moore Chair Company.

He attended Gass Memorial Cumberland Presbyterian Church as long as his health permitted.

He was a son of the late F.W. "Wince" and Kate Fannon Bowman and was the widower of Dorothy Helen Humbert Bowman, his wife of 68 years who died Nov. 24, 2006

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Patricia Garber of Greeneville and Peggy and Jerry Turnmire of Limestone; a daughter-in-law: Lois Bowman of Mosheim; three granddaughters: Pam Stapleton of Greeneville and Wendy Carpenter and Christy McIntyre, both of Mosheim; three grandsons: Matthew Turnmire and Brian Turnmire, both of Limestone, and Eric Turnmire of Bristol; his great-grandsons: Michael Stapleton, Dakota Turnmire, Bailey McIntyre, Silas Turnmire, Drake McIntyre, Maddox Bishop, and Ethan Carpenter; his great-granddaughters: Rachel Stapleton, Madison Carpenter, and Montana Turnmire; a special uncle: Elmer Fannon of Greeneville; his nephew: Johnny Llewelyn Bowman of Greeneville; and special friends: Dale and Mary Seaton, Vickie Daugherty, Betty Kilday, Loretta Gass, Janice Farmer, Lura Babb, and Kenny Kilday.

He was preceded in death by a son: Dale Bowman; a grandson: Michael Garber; a great-granddaughter: Nevada Grace Turnmire; and a brother: John Bowman.

The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Friday at Kiser Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Rex Brown, Pastor Kevin Trimble, and the Rev. Steve Davis will officiate.

Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery on Snapps Ferry Road.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Turnmire, Eric Turnmire, Brian Turnmire, Allen Stapleton, James Carpenter, and Doug Bishop.

Honorary pallbearers will be John "Squaw Man" McAbee, the staff at Signature HealthCARE, Donnie Bowman, and Roger Johnson.
