ELIZABETHTON -- North Greene booked its way into the District 1-A softball winners bracket final with a solid win over University High on Monday.

The Lady Huskies got homers from Brittany McGhee, Samantha Weems and Tosha Hall to roll past the Lady Bucs 11-1 in six innings.

North Greene started out slowly, but once the Lady Huskies started hitting the ball, they didn't stop.

After coming up empty in the first and second, a six-run third inning blew the game wide open for North Greene. Bobbie Cobb scored from third on a double steal to kick things off, then big hits came from Hall with a two-run base hit and from McGhee with a two-run homer.

Weems hit a solo homer deep out to center to spark a four-run fourth that moved North Greene ahead 10-0.

University High got the benefit of an unearned run in the top of the fifth that extended the game before North Greene finally put it away with Hall's homer to lead off the bottom of the sixth.

McGhee had a solid game defensively for North Greene at third, recording five putouts and helping turn two doubles plays in the first four innings alone.

Hall limited UH to four hits to earn the pitching win.

The win puts the No. 2 seed Lady Huskies (20-8) into tonight's winner's bracket final against top-seeded and tournament host Unaka (25-11) at 6:30 p.m.
