Greeneville High School's boys' tennis team will host the Region 1-AAA playoffs Friday afternoon at the Greeneville-Greene County Tennis Center after winning first place in the District 2-AAA Tournament which concluded Tuesday at Morristown.

The Greene Devils, who were unbeaten in district play this year at 10-0, will take on Science Hill Friday at the Tennis Center beginning at 4 p.m.

In Tuesday's district play, Reston Hartsell finished second in singles, losing to top seed Curt Duncan in the finals. Duncan advanced to the finals with a 6-0, 6-0 win over GHS's Devansh Patel, while Hartsell rolled over Travis Pace of Cocke County 6-2-6-2.

Duncan won the championship over No. 2 seed Hartsell in a tight match, 7-5, 6-4. It was the closest anyone from the IMAC had played Duncan in singles competition this season.

Greeneville's doubles duo of Matthew Smith and Weston Epley lost in the semifinals to Jefferson's Garrett Ellis and Tyler Catlett, 6-3, 6-3. The Jefferson team went on to upset the Morristown East top seeded team of Eric Linkous and Matt Blair in the finals.

In girls' singles, Greeneville's Jerrica Goodson lost to top seed Chesnea Gray of Morristown West in the semifinals, 6-2, 6-0. Gray went on to win the championship over West's Tiffany Delias.

Devin McIntyre and Rachel Collins of Greeneville were defeated in the semifinals by West's Rachel Bowlin and Grace Williams 6-4, 6-2 in girls' doubles. Jefferson's Kayley Ray and Maggie Clement of Jefferson went on to win the championship.
