(Last modified: 2008-06-16 12:01:50) Source: The Greeneville Sun Rep. David Davis, R-1st, of Johnson City, has announced the Gun Owners of America gave him the organization's top score. Davis, who is running for re-election, said "The Second Amendment is vital to the preservation of ideas our Founding Fathers have set forth in the Constitution. Like myself, the Gun Owners of America believe in upholding the Constitution, one of America's most sacred documents. "As your representative in Congress, I will continue to do anything necessary to preserve the right to bear arms for law-abiding citizens," the congressman added. Davis received a grade of A, which was the highest score in the Tennessee Congressional Delegation. Gun Owners of America, which was was formed in 1975, said it "works to preserve and defend the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens." Copyright © 2009, The Greeneville Sun |
