(Last modified: 2008-06-26 11:32:43) Source: The Greeneville Sun Business and industry tours and meetings with human resource and training representatives will be part of a Partners in Education educator in-service for teachers, counselors and administrators of the Greeneville and Greene County school systems on Thursday, July 31. The goal of this program is to provide an in-service training program for educators that will give insight into what industry is looking for in future employees, as well as give the educators an opportunity to express their ideas and concerns about students and education to business leaders. Educators will divide into small groups to visit local industries and meet with human resources and training personnel. They will have the opportunity to visit at least two facilities, one in a morning session and one in the afternoon. Following the tours, meetings will be held with industry personnel to discuss such subjects as skills needed today, skills needed five years from today, job availability, changing technologies and work ethic. Partners in Education is sponsoring the program with the Greeneville and Greene County school systems. Partners in Education is a joint project of the Greeneville and Greene County school systems and the Greene County Partnership. For more information on the in-service program or to participate in it, call Kelly Burrell, of the Greene County Partnership, at 638-4111. Copyright © 2008, The Greeneville Sun |
