(Last modified: 2008-07-03 12:26:54) Source: The Greeneville Sun Laws regulating the sale and use of fireworks vary in Greene County and its municipalities. According to a Greeneville city ordinance, it is unlawful for city residents to possess, store, offer for sale, sell at retail, use or explode any fireworks. The only exception to this law is for public fireworks display, in which case a local fire official must approve. The same is true in Tusculum, where sale and discharge by individuals of fireworks is prohibited, according to Tusculum Recorder Eva Sams. Baileyton Recorder Barbara Tilson said fireworks may be discharged within the town limits of Baileyton no later than 10 p.m. except on News Year's Eve and July 4th when fireworks use must stop by 1 a.m. In Mosheim, use of fireworks is not prohibited, according to a spokesman at Mosheim Town Hall. In the unincorporated areas of Greene County, the sale and discharge of fireworks is legal at all times. Copyright © 2009, The Greeneville Sun |
