The price of gasoline keeps rising in Tennessee and across the country.

The American Automobile Association's Auto Club South reports the average price of a regular, unleaded gallon of gas in Tennessee was:

* $3.17 earlier this week;

* $3.07.8 on March 1;

* $2.87.3 a month ago; and

* $2.40.2 a year ago.

The AAA reported that the average price of a regular, unleaded gallon of gas throughout the United States was:

* $3.28.5 earlier this week;

* $3.16.5 on March 1;

* $2.98.4 a month ago; and

* $2.40.2 a year ago.

Randy Bly, director of community relations for the AAA's Auto Club South, said, "Like clockwork, the March-to-May fuel price increases arrive with a bang and this year is no different."

A Greeneville Sun survey this Wednesday of the price of a regular, unleaded gallon of gas at 14 local service stations found the average price to be $3.16.9.

The price at two stations checked was $3.16.9; the price was $3.17.9 at six stations, and $3.15.9 at six other stations.
