KNOXVILLE -- Goody's Family Clothing Inc. has announced that it will close 18 "underperforming stores" in June, but the closings will not include the Goody's store in Greeneville or any other stores in East Tennessee.

However, two of the 18 Goody's stores to be closed are located in Nashville.

The states where these stores will be closing are Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, North Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and West Virginia.

Goody's has more than 370 stores in 21 states.

A Goody's store typically employs 20 to 30 people, according to a company spokesperson.
