The District 2-AAA Tennis Tournament will be held today and Tuesday at Frank Lorino Park in Morristown. The first two rounds are scheduled for today with the semifinals and finals slated for Tuesday.
The Greeneville boys are the regular season conference champions after finishing 10-0, while the Morristown West girls won the IMAC crown with a perfect 10-0 mark.
In boys singles, Curt Duncan of Morristown West is top seed, with Reston Hartsell of Greeneville seeded at No. 2. GHS's Devansh Patel was seeded No. 3, but had to drop down to the No. 4 slot to get into a different bracket from his teammate, Hartsell. Travis Pace of Cocke County will play as the No. 3 seed.
In boys doubles, Eric Linkous and Matt Blair of Morristown East are top seeds with Jefferson's Garrett Ellis and Tyler Catlett at No. 2. Greeneville's Matthew Smith and Chris Epley are seeded third, while Cherokee's Keegan Pearson and Forrest Catron come in at No. 4.
Chesnea Gray of Morristown West is No. 1 seed in girls singles, with Rebecca Smith of Cocke County No. 2. Rachel Hutson of Morristown East is No. 3 and Greeneville's Jerrica Goodson is No. 4.
Girls' doubles has Kayley Ray and Maggie Clement of Jefferson as top seeds, with Rachel Bowlin and Grace Williams of West at No. 3. Greeneville's Devan McIntyre and Rachel Collins will play at No. 3 seed, and Beth davis and Kristi Bowlin of Jefferson is No. 4.
All top four seeds in girls and boys, singles and doubles, will get a first round bye and will not have to play until today's second round.
