A man who allegedly stole and pawned his mother's motorized wheelchair last year was arrested Friday, May 2.

Deputy Sheriff David Beverly arrested Bruce Chandler, 32, of Midway Circle, on an outstanding warrant that charged him with theft over $1,000.

An arrest report indicated that Chandler was taken into custody after officers found him to be a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped on the West Andrew Johnson Highway.

Chandler, according to an arrest warrant filed by Sheriff's Det. Sgt. James Randolph, was alleged to have stolen his mother's motorized wheelchair on Aug. 30, 2007, and to have pawned it at a Morristown pawn shop.

Bond for Chandler was set at $3,000. He was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on May 5.
