MOORESVILLE, N.C.

The three-day, 54-hole event is being held at The Point Lake and Golf Club, hosted by Belmont Abbey College.

Wynne is in a seven-way tie for ninth place at 147, while junior teammate Chase Carroll is tied for 16th at 148, including Tuesday's 77.

Two golfers are tied for the lead at 142 including Chris Wolfe (Armstrong Atlantic State) and Niclas Johansson (Georgia College & State Univ.).

Wynne's 70 was one of only five scores under par on Tuesday as the 2008 South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year climbed 22 spots on the leader board. His two-under 70 was the third lowest round of the day and third-best 18 holes of the week.

Wynne carded 35 on his inward nine including three birdies and a double bogey. Two of those birdies came on the par fives, while his double-bogey six came on the sixth hole when his drive went into a drainage ditch. He took relief from the ditch, but his free drop rolled into a divot. The two-time All-SAC standout rebounded with back-to-back birdies on holes seven and eight.

After a bogey on No. 10, Wynne made a furious charge with birdies on three of his next five holes. On No. 11, he drained an eight-foot putt to move back into red numbers on the day. After consecutive pars on 12 and 13 , he made a 10-foot putt on No. 14 and a 25-footer on the 15th hole to move to three-under par for his round. His bid for a third straight birdie came to an end on No. 16 as his three-footer lipped out. Wynne stumbled with a bogey on No. 17, but scored a par on the 18th hole.

Carroll played steady golf on his front nine with eight pars and a bogey on the third hole. On the back-nine, the two-time All-Conference honoree bogeyed four of his first five holes, before settled down to post four straight pars for his 77.

The third and final round of the regional will be played today.
