ELIZABETHTON -- North Greene earned a spot in the District 1-A championship tilt with a win over University High on Wednesday.
The Lady Huskies scored early and then held on for a 5-4 victory.
North Greene scored three runs in the bottom of the first, but it was a two-run homer by Brittany McGhee in the third that proved to provide the winning runs.
Tosha Hall went three-for-three for the Lady Huskies and got the pitching win, striking out four and limiting UH to three hits.
North Greene must beat tournament Unaka twice today to win the district title, but are assured a spot in next week's region tournament either way. Game time is 5 p.m.
