Approximately 140 people, including 30 employees of Vulcan Materials Company, attended a public reception on Thursday at the company's crushed-stone mining site off Lonesome Pine Trail.
Those attending Thursday's reception were treated to a barbecue dinner and tours of quarry pits and other sites aboard a Greene Coach Lines bus.
A majority of the limestone Vulcan Materials crushes for use in asphalt and concrete must meet strict size specifications set by the State of Tennessee, according to Albert Wamack, sales manager for the Kingsport District, which includes the two quarries in Greene County.
