The Greene County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a Woodland Circle woman who was found "unresponsive" at her residence on Friday morning.
Sheriff Steve Burns said on Friday afternoon that an autopsy had been ordered to be performed on the body of June M. Carter, 56, of 115 Woodland Circle, in attempt to determine what caused her death.
A report filed about 7:40 a.m. Friday by Deputy Sheriff Nakia Tweed indicated that Carter was found in an "unresponsive" state by her boyfriend at her residence.
She was pronounced dead after Greene County-Greeneville Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene, officers said.
Sheriff Burns said on Friday afternoon that investigators were awaiting a preliminary autopsy report.
