New principals have been appointed for two Greeneville elementary schools.

Pat Donaldson has been appointed principal of Tusculum View Elementary School.

Brenda Ottinger has been named principal of Highland Year-Round Elementary School.

Dr. Lyle Ailshie, Greeneville's director of schools, said, "I am proud to name these two outstanding educators from the Greeneville City Schools to continue their careers as principals and leaders in our school system.

"The quality of the applicant pool was extraordinary, which speaks highly of the exemplary leaders we have within our school system and also of those seeking positions with our system."

Pat Donaldson

Donaldson graduated from King College in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in psychology, from the University of Tennessee with a master's degree in education/special education in 1986, and from East Tennessee State University with a master's degree in educational leadership in 2008.

Donaldson devoted the early years of her teaching career, from 1986 to 1998, to being a classroom teacher working with students with intellectual disabilities in Knoxville and Lovejoy, Ga.

From 1998 to 2000, Donaldson was a classroom resource teacher at Camp Creek Elementary School in Greene County.

From 2000, she has been the resource teacher at Tusculum View School. Donaldson also has served as instructional coordinator at Tusculum View School since 2003.

Donaldson is married to the Rev. Dan Donaldson and is the mother two daughters: Rachel and Heather.

Brenda Ottinger

Ottinger graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education, from Tusculum College with a master's degree in education in 1998, and from Lincoln Memorial University with an educational specialist degree in administration and supervision in 2003.

Ottinger began her career in education with the Greeneville City School System, serving as a teacher assistant at EastView Elementary School from 1992 to 1993.

She became a classroom teacher at EastView in August 1993, a position she has held since then, teaching second, third, fourth and fifth grades.

In addition, Ottinger has served as instructional coordinator at EastView since 2000.

Ottinger is married to John Ottinger and is the mother of three sons: Seth, Russell and Robert.
