The Greene County Tennis Association has announced a complete program of tennis instruction, play and events for the summer months. All events will be held at the Greeneville-Greene County Tennis Center on Hal Henard Road, and Bart Kennedy, USPTA Pro 1, will lead all instruction.

*Youth Instruction: The QuickStart Tennis Clinic for youth ages 4-10 will be held in two sessions: May 26-30 and June 2-6 from 10-11:30 a.m. The High School Clinic will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on July 7, 14, 21 and 28. The Junior Clinic for youth ages 10-14 will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Aug. 7, 14, 21 and 28, and September 2, 4, 9 and 11.

*Junior Ladder Play: Weekly competition using a point system. Youth are classified by skill level and play each other. Mathes are played on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9-12 a.m. or 6-9 p.m. Youth enroll one month at a time, with monthly and cumulative winners awarded.

Sessions are: Session 1--May 13-June 9; Session II--June 10-July 7; Session III--July 8-Aug. 4; Session IV--Aug. 5-Sept. 15; Sessions V--Sept. 16-Oct. 13.

*Junior Team Tennis League Play: Greeneville has formed a junior team tennis league with Hamblen County and Jefferson County. Co-ed teams are divided into two divisions: 18-under advanced, and 14-under intermediate. The league will have 3-6 teams in each division and will play each other at least once.

Match play will be on Saturday mornings at the local Tennis Center, at Frank Lorino Park in Morristown, and at Carson-Newman College. League winners will advance to the state tournament Aug. 1-2 in Knoxville.

*Adult Instruction: Adult tennis clinics will be offered in small group settings in four sessions from 7-8:30 p.m.

Session 1--June 3, 10, 17, 30; Session II--Aug. 4, 11, 18, 25; Session III--Sept. 8, 15, 22, 29; Session IV--Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28.

*Tri-Level Adult League Play: This is doubles league play for men and women.

*Tounament Play: The association plans to host three tournaments: RegionsBank Sanctioned Youth Tournament June 6-8 (for youth 10-18); American Patriot Bank Seniors Sanctioned Tournament July 11-13 (for adults 50-over); Fourth Annual Greene County Classic sponsored by American Patriot Bank Aug. 15-17 (youth and adult).
