Greeneville police charged two men with multiple offenses after two unrelated pursuits on Tuesday.

In the first of the two incidents, GPD Officer Clifford Lawing charged Oscar Omar Lagunes Cruz, 28, of Morristown, with felony evading arrest and the third offense of driving on a revoked license after a pursuit that began near Price Lane and ended at a dead end on Brook Street.

Police reports and arrest warrants indicated that police had gone to 1202B Price Lane about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday to serve a domestic assault warrant on Cruz. On arrival, however, witnesses said Cruz had left in a blue Honda automobile before officers arrived.

According to a police report, Officer Lawing attempted to stop a blue Honda on West Main Street, but the vehicle fled into the Ricker Addition and stopped only when it reached a dead-end on Brooks Street.

Cruz, who fled on foot, was taken into custody by Officer Billy Christy.

Bond for Cruz was set at $13,000 on the traffic charges. However, he was ordered held without bond on the outstanding domestic assault charge pending an appearance in General Sessions Court on May 28.

In an unrelated incident, at about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, Officer David White saw a Ford Mustang spinning its tires in the parking lot of the Greeneville Commons shopping center near K-Mart and attempted to stop the vehicle.

A police report said the Mustang's driver, who later was identified as James Michael Teaster, 20, of 110 Sycamore Street, ignored the blue lights and siren of Officer White's patrol car and fled the shopping center.

The police report, and an arrest warrant, said Teaster fled along Old Shiloh Road, where he allegedly passed several vehicles, causing police to abandon the pursuit out of concern for public safety.

Teaster, according to a police report, was arrested late Tuesday at his residence.

He was charged with felony reckless endangerment, felony evading arrest and reckless driving.

Teaster was ordered held in lieu of a $20,500 appearance bond pending an appearance in General Sessions Court.
