A number of local governmental offices will be closed Friday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
All Greene County garbage collection convenience centers will be closed on Friday, but will be open on Saturday, July 5.
County offices in the courthouse and annex will also be closed on Friday.
The County Clerk's office, which is normally open on Saturday mornings for vehicle tag renewals, will be closed on Saturday, July 5.
Town halls will be closed on Friday in Greeneville, Baileyton, Mosheim and Tusculum.
The Greeneville Public Works Department will observe Friday as a holiday, and garbage normally collected on Friday will be collected with the regularly scheduled routes on Monday, July 7.
Residents are reminded to place their containers at the edge of their properties early on Monday, as employees will begin their routes earlier than normal.
No Brush Accepted July 7-11
The Greeneville-Greene County Landfill/Transfer Station will be closed Friday. Normal hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. will resume on Monday, July 7.
The landfill/transfer station will not accept brush during the week of July 7-11. Contractors will be mobilizing equipment and grinding the stockpiled brush into mulch during this week. Acceptance of brush will resume the week beginning July 14.
Also closed on Friday, a federal holiday, will be the offices in the James H. Quillen United States Courthouse and the local Social Security Office.
The U.S. Post Office will be closed on Friday, and there will be no mail delivery.
Also closed on Friday will be the Greene County Health Department, the Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) and the University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service office.
Both the Greeneville-Greene County Library and the T. Elmer Cox Historical and Genealogical Library will be closed Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5.
Also closed on Friday will be the YMCA of Greene County, the Greene County Partnership and the Greeneville Water Department.
The Greeneville Sun will publish a newspaper on its regular schedule on Friday, though this newspaper's offices will close at noon.
