Local 9-10 Stars Still Alive In LL Tourney

Greeneville's American League All-Stars are still alive in the District 4 9-10 Little League Tournament being staged at Hardin Park.

Greeneville American blanked South Jefferson 10-0 Tuesday night to advance to tonight's play against Morristown American, who defeated Jefferson City in a 20-14 slugfest Tuesday. That game is set for 6 p.m., and will be followed by the winner's bracket final pitting Greeneville National against Morristown National.

On Tuesday, Austin McCamey went the distance on the mound for Greeneville American and got the win, scattering three hits. Braxton Potter led the hitting with a double and two singles, while Joseph Jones and Zane Britton each had a double and single. Austin McCamey, Dylan Kirk and Cole Christopher each contributed one hit.

13-14 Tourney

In the 13-14 tournament at Rogersville, Greeneville advanced to the finals of the winner's bracket with a 14-1 victory over Newport.

Heath Starnes was winning pitcher, firing a one-hitter. Zachary Britton hammered two homers to lead the bats, while Rodney Ramsey had a homer and double and Starnes contributed a double and single.

Greeneville now moves to Saturday's game at 8 p.m. against Morristown American.

11-12 Tourney

In the 11-12 district at Morristown, both Greeneville teams came up on the short end of scores Tuesday night.

Morristown American nipped Greeneville National in a 1-0 thriller, while Morristown National defeated Greeneville American 7-2.

Greeneville National plays tonight at 6 p.m. the loser's bracket, while Greeneville American has the 7:30 p.m. contest tonight at Popkin Field.
