The public comment period on the Tennessee Valley Authority's land management plan proposal for some parcels of land along the Nolichucky River and Douglas Lake that are owned by TVA has been extended two weeks to July 15, said Chris Cooper, TVA resource specialist, on Wednesday.
A 30-day period for written comments on, and criticisms of, TVA's Douglas-Nolichucky Tributary Reservoirs Land Management Plan had been scheduled to end at midnight on Tuesday, July 1.
A number of people present for an 80-minute meeting on Monday had objected to the original earlier deadline, saying they had not been personally contacted by TVA about the proposed land management plan, despite a mailout from the public utility to approximately 2,500 people.
Cooper said he had spent about six hours to contact everyone at Monday's meeting who left a phone number or e-mail address to inform them of the deadline extension to July 15.
Cooper said TVA has set up a special e-mail contact address to address concerns or questions about the plan, at www.douglas-nolichucky_reservoirs@tva.gov
In addition, TVA can be reached by calling 1-866-601-4612 or online at www.tva.gov/environment/reports/dnlp.
