Source: The Greeneville Sun Victim At Club Was Shot 'At Least 4 Times,' Warrant Says By BILL
JONES Staff Writer A Greene County man
was charged Tuesday by the Sheriff's Department with criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder
in connection with a Sunday shooting outside the Hideaway Club on Bolton
Road. An arrest warrant filed by Sheriff's Detective Sgt. James Randolph
said Daniel Pete Davis, 30, of 1600 Kingsport Highway, was charged in connection with an attack on
Chris Brotherton, 22, of Bolton Road, who was shot "at least four times" after he exited the Hideway
Club on Aug. 3. The arrest warrant alleged that Davis waited outside the
club for Brotherton to leave and then shot him. Witnesses told deputies
that Davis shot Brotherton as Brotherton was mounting his motorcycle in the club's parking
lot. After the shooting, according to the warrant, Davis fled the scene
in a 1998 Dodge Durango sport utility vehicle that was later found at 1600 Kingsport
Highway. Davis had turned himself in to sheriff's deputies on Monday,
Aug. 4. Bond for Davis was set at $250,000. He was scheduled to make an
initial appearance today on the charge in General Sessions
Court. Brotherton was initially treated at Laughlin Memorial Hospital and
flown to the Johnson City Medical Center after the incident. Brotherton has since been released from
the hospital, authorities said.
