Courtney Gosnell, a
student at Chuckey-Doak High School, was crowned "Miss Baileyton 2008" at a well-attended pageant on
Thursday.
The event kicked off the four-day Baileyton
Celebration.
More than 500 people attended the pageant held Thursday
evening at the Baileyton Elementary School auditorium, according to Celebration organizer Virginia
Cooter.
Other winners at the pageant will be listed in a future edition
of The Greeneville Sun.
The 16th annual Baileyton Celebration continues
today through Sunday in downtown Baileyton.
This year's theme is "The
Magic of Music."
On Saturday, philanthropist and businessman Scott
Niswonger will be the honorary parade marshal.
North Greene High School
will be the parade marshal band.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. behind
Baileyton School on Van Hill Road.

* Sandy's Karaoke Club: 4 to 9 p.m. -- held on outdoor stage on the school grounds
of Baileyton Elementary School
* Food and crafts booths open 4 to 9
p.m.
* Cruise-in registration and viewing of cars from 4 to 6 p.m. at
Baileyton School
* Tour of Old Baileyton at 6 p.m. Tour starts at Town
Hall.
* Talent show at 7 p.m. on the outdoor stage at Baileyton
School.
* Cruise-in Awards announced at 7:30 p.m. on outdoor stage at
Baileyton School.
Saturday, Sept. 6:

Registration for Quilt and Needlework Show at 8:30 a.m., Baileyton
School.
* Quilt and Needlework Show at 9:30 a.m., Baileyton
School.
* Baileyton parade at 10 a.m. with the parade starting in front
of school on Van Hill Road
* Opening ceremonies at 11:30 a.m. with
recognition of guests and announcement of antique tractor awards and float
awards.
* Entertainment from noon to 7 p.m. on outdoor
stage.
* Children's crafts at 12:30 p.m. on school
grounds.
* Baileyton alumni reunion at 2 p.m. at Baileyton School
auditorium.
* Registration for 5K road race at 4 p.m. at Town Hall. (The
cost to enter is $15.)
* 5K Road Race at 6 p.m., starting at Town

* "Baileyton Idol" (done in the style of "American Idol") at 7 p.m.
at the outdoor stage.

service at 11:15 a.m. on the Baileyton School outdoor stage, with preacher Darren Crowder from
Nashville.
* Gospel music from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. on the outdoor
stage.
* Youth rally at 6 p.m. at Baileyton School auditorium, hosted by
Brittontown Church and community youth.
There will be an information
booth located near the outdoor stage on the Baileyton School grounds during the
celebration.
