Source: The Greeneville Sun Greeneville police are
investigating, as apparently self-inflicted, a York Drive woman's shooting Thursday
morning. A report filed by GPD Officer Kenni Carter said the 37-year-old
victim was flown to the Johnson City Medical Center after being found suffering from an apparent
gunshot wound. The police report said another resident of the victim's
home had found her in a bedroom with a small-caliber handgun in one of her
hands. Police said the victim was treated at the scene by Greene
County-Greeneville Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel before being transferred by ambulance
to a landing zone at Fire Station No. 4, where she was picked up by a Wings Air Rescue helicopter
and flown to the Johnson City Medical Center. This morning, however, a
receptionist at the JCMC said the victim was not shown as a patient there. Efforts to contact a JCMC
nursing supervisor were unsuccessful. The victim's name is not being
published in keeping with The Greeneville Sun's policy regarding the names of apparent
self-inflicted shooting victims.
