The SHARE affordable food distribution program is continuing to provide good quality affordable food, including frozen meat and fresh produce, to residents of Greene County.
Each month food is distributed at St. James Episcopal Church at 106 West Church Street. SHARE is open to everyone with no membership fee. Purchases are subject to sales tax and food stamps may be used to purchase packages.
The deadline for ordering is Monday Sept. 15. Food can then be picked up at the church on Saturday, Sept. 27.
The regular package for the month includes beef steak strips, one pound of chicken breast tenders, eight ounces of shaved roast beef deli meat, four Italian sausages, one package of mini chicken and cheese tacos, one package of vegetable egg rolls, frozen green beans, vanilla cream pie, three pounds of potatoes and assorted fresh fruits and vegetables for $20.
Specialty packages this month are: a freezer pantry package with 15 ounces of pork tenderloin, chicken drumsticks, one pound of center cut pork chops, one pound of lean beef patties, 13 ounces of smoked sausage, eight ounces of breaded chicken breast nuggets, 12 ounces of pork sausage patties and 10 ounces of shaved smoked deli ham for $20; bread shrimp (three bags with 40 to 50 shrimp per bag) for $16; five pounds of chicken breast fillets for $12; 20 corn dogs with five to a package for $7.
When picking up the food, please bring a box to carry items home.
