The 13th annual Greene County Antique Farm & Auto Show will be held on Friday through Sunday, Sept. 19-21, at the Greene County Fairgrounds.
The annual event seeks to take visitors back decades in time to see what life was like then on East Tennessee farms.
Admission to the show is by donation only.
Proceeds from the annual farm show benefit various charitable organizations, including Shriners Hospitals for Children, St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, and the Southern Appalachian Ronald McDonald House in Johnson City.
Since 1997, nearly $50,000 has been donated from the farm show's proceeds to Shriners Hospitals and St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, according to Debbie Cox, one of the event's organizers.
Some of the featured activities and displays will include: a variety of antique tractors and automobiles, "hit-n-miss" engines, a horse-drawn hay baler and threshing machine, a portable sawmill, apple butter-making demonstrations, and wringer washing machines.
Crafters, Quilting Featured
Crafting and quilting demonstrations will also be held at the event. A craft show featuring works from about 25 participating crafters will be featured.
A large display of quilts will also be on exhibit. Some will be available for purchase. Those who have a quilt that they would like to display are asked to call 638-9939.
Friday School Events
On Friday morning, Sept. 19, area fourth-grade students have been invited to take part in the event's Kids Education Day activities. The school groups can hear from various experts about activities that farming families typically had to complete on their farms years ago.
At 1 p.m. on Friday, the fairgrounds will be open for the public to tour the exhibits. The fairgrounds will remain open until 6 p.m.
On Saturday, Sept. 20, the farm show will continue from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A "Parade of Power" featuring all of the antique tractors on display at the event will be held through the fairgrounds beginning at 2 p.m.
At 3 p.m., a Kiddie Pedal Tractor Pull will be held at 3 p.m. The pedal tractors for the competition will be provided by John and Sandra Taylor, of Blountville. All children are invited.
Also on Saturday, a variety of bluegrass and gospel music entertainment will be held throughout the day at the GreenBank Pavilion.
At 5 p.m. on Saturday, tractor pull enthusiasts are invited to attend an antique tractor pull at the fairgrounds' Jim Saulsbury Arena.
On Sunday, Sept. 21, the final day of the farm show, the gates will open at 10 a.m. and a church service will be held at 11 a.m.
Various activities and demonstrations, including an antique tractor "Parade of Power" at 2 p.m., will continue throughout the day until 5 p.m.
