Tusculum College will hold its
eighth annual "Health and Fitness Fall Fantasia" on Thursday, Oct. 2.
Offered free to the public will be medical and health information and
assessments of many types, demonstrations to include Tai Chi, and Zumba, as well as cooking
demonstrations and a presentation on eating disorders.
The event be from
8 a.m. to 5 p. m. in the college's Niswonger Commons.
This year's event
has been planned with "an extra effort to include the senior population," according to Tusculum
College nurse Diane Hensley.
She said this year's expanded event will
offer:
* increased awareness of health resources in the
community;
* multiple areas of physical and mental health education and
screening;
* preventive care information;
*
alternative health/medicine sources;
* special presentations by experts
in various health-related fields;
* physical fitness demonstrations for
all ages, including the afore-mentioned Tai Chi and Zumba;
* information
on healthy food choices, cooking ideas and preparation techniques;
*
recognition of a health professional in the community who has taken special care of Tusculum College
students through the years.
At noon, representatives of the University of
Tennessee Breast Health Outreach Program will make a presentation about breast cancer awareness and
offer a box lunch at no charge to anyone attending their presentation.
