Carrie Tucker, of Greeneville, has been selected by producers
of "America's Funniest Home Videos" to have the video she recently made of her bulldog, Bodie,
broadcast on a future episode of the popular TV show.
Tucker will fly to
Los Angeles on Friday with her family to appear for a taping of "America's Funniest Home
Videos."
In Tucker's approximately 60-second video, shot last month, her
dog, Bodie, is seen asleep and snoring loudly on the family's couch.
Tucker places a cheese curl on his nose to see if he'll wake up, which
he does. Bodie eats the cheese curl, then coughs it out.
The show's
producers selected Tucker's video to be one of three videos to be broadcast nationally on one of its
weekly shows later this year, perhaps in November.
Tucker said she enjoys
shooting videos of her three-year-old son, Elliott, as well as of her four-year-old English
bulldog.
She explained the circumstances leading to the
video.
On Sept. 3, Tucker thought it would be funny to see if Bodie would
awaken from his sleeping and snoring on the living room couch to eat a cheese curl.
"I guess I was feeling a bit mischievous," Tucker recalled. "I wondered
what he would do if I put a Cheese Puff on his nose."
After a short time,
Bodie woke up and stared at the Cheese Puff, which then fell behind his
head.
Carrie picked up the food and fed it to her dog.
"He chewed on it as only a bulldog can. I guess his throat was dry,
because he coughed the whole Cheese Puff up through the air."
Tucker
showed her video to her husband, Christopher. They agreed the video was "a good one." Maybe she
should send it in to "America's Funniest Home Videos," she
thought.
Tucker said she used her digital video camera to shoot the brief
scene, then uploaded it onto the TV show's Web site.
Tucker is guaranteed
to win at least third place on the show, which includes prize money of $2,000. Second place pays
$3,000, and first place, a whopping $10,000.
If she wins first place
among the three, she will advance to the season's finale and the chance to earn $100,000 if her
video wins.
Tucker said her maiden name is Smith, and that she grew up in
Greeneville and graduated from Greeneville High School in 1991.
Tucker
will enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip this weekend to Manhattan Beach, in the Los Angeles area, along
with her husband and son.
She said she considered taking Bodie along on
the trip, but worried about his well-being while stored in a cage in the cargo bay of the
plane.
"Poor Bodie doesn't get to go," she
said.
