'E-Waste Drop-Off' Planned In Rogersville On Oct. 17-18

Published: 2:47 AM, 10/11/2008

Source: The Greeneville Sun

A free "E-waste drop-off event" will be held in Rogersville on Friday, Oct. 17, and Saturday, Oct. 18 next to the Rogersville Wal-Mart.

Computers, television sets, cell phones and any other items with a plug will be accepted and loaded onto a large tractor-trailer on those two days, from 9 to 5 p.m.

Residential and business locations are encouraged to bring any electronic equipment, except refrigerators or air-conditioning units, to the Wal-Mart location for proper recycling.

All E-waste will be completely disassembled. Hard drives and other data storage items will be completely shredded, destroying any information that might be left on them.

Proper documentation and certificates of recycling will be provided to businesses that drop off items, thereby ending any liability of hazardous waste, according to a press release.

For more information, contact Southeast Recycling at 1-800-592-3970, or Wal-Mart at 272-7707.
