South Greene's Lady Rebels came back from a first quarter deficit to beat North Greene 45-30 and claim the championship in this year's Greene County Thanksgiving Invitational on Saturday.
Tournament host Chuckey-Doak had to settle for second in the boys' bracket, with the Black Knights slipping 55-47 in the title game to Hampton.
Chuckey-Doak's Lady Knights placed third, rallying to beat Hampton 53-51 in the consolation game. North Greene's boys came in fourth, falling 74-45 to Unaka.
West Greene's girls beat University High 53-43, and Morristown East topped Cosby 60-34. Cosby's boys beat South Greene on a buzzer beater 59-57, and Providence Academy downed West Greene 45-27 to round out the final day.
Lady Rebs Take Title
South Greene's Lady Rebels captured the tournament title 45-30, having to come from behind after a strong start by the Lady Huskies.
Dakota White scored six of her team-best 14 points and also had three rebounds and two assists in the opening eight minutes to lead the Lady Huskies to an 11-7 first quarter lead.
After that, Rechelle Dye and Brittany Kinser took over to lead the Lady Rebels to the victory.
Dye and Kinser each scored five in the second quarter. Dye went on to a game-leading 16 points and four steals. Kinser scored 14. Ansley Ricker scored 10, anchored by a pair of third quarter 3-pointers, and had five rebounds.
The Lady Rebels led 34-26 going into the fourth quarter, but a surge led by Stephanie McKinsey cut it to a two-possession game early in the fourth until Dye closed out the game with a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line.

Black Knights Fall
Chuckey-Doak fell 55-47 to Hampton in the boys' championship despite a game-best effort from Clint Sexton.
Sexton scored 22 points, had 17 rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots.
It was a tight contest all the way down to the final minute.
Sexton scored 10 points in the first quarter, thanks in part to four assists from Drew Lady, and James Durham blocked three shots to make it a 14-12 game in favor of the Bulldogs after one.
Hampton nursed a 23-21 lead at halftime, but the Knights took the lead on a 3-pointer by Tyler Feezell at the start of the third.
The Bulldogs pulled ahead by quarter's end and stretched their lead early in the fourth until Tyler Banks hit a couple of baskets to close the gap. Sexton scored on a putback to make it a two-possession game with under a minute to go before Hampton finished strong to take the tournament crown.

Lady Knights Win
Chuckey-Doak's girls rallied in the second half to beat Hampton 53-51 for third place.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 24-9 first quarter lead, and then the Lady Knights took control of the game to slowly pull themselves back into it.
Hampton led 34-24 at halftime. A nine-point third quarter by Kaitlyn Frye started the rally for Chuckey-Doak, and then Victoria Baldwin and Brooke White took over to lead the Lady Knights to the win.
White scored a game-leading 21 points, backed up by 10 from Baldwin.

Boys Teams Lose
Kayla Murphy scored 19 points and Korey Mathes scored 12 to lead the Lady Buffs to their 53-43 victory over University High.
Cosby hit a buzzer beater to nip South Greene 59-57. Seth Bragdon scored 13 to lead the Rebs. Zach Randolph added 10.
Providence Academy rebounded from a slow start to get past West Greene 45-27, who was led by nine points from Seth Greene.
Unaka hit nine 3-pointers to beat North Greene 74-45. The Huskies were led by 19 points from Ryan Hopson.
