The Greeneville Police Department is investigating
a pickup truck fire that burned part of a car wash early Sunday morning on Marshall
Lane.
A report filed by GPD officer Stephen Hixson stated that the police
department responded to a Greene County 911 call about a vehicle fire at 3:24 a.m. Sunday at
Foothills Laundry, just off the Newport Highway.
Upon arrival, the
passenger's side of the truck, which was parked in a bay of the car wash, was fully engulfed in
flames, and the fire had spread to the ceiling of the wash bay, according to the
report.
The Greeneville Fire Department responded and distinguished the
fire, the report said.
At 5:56 p.m. Sunday, the truck's owner, Jeremiah
Banks, 30, of 210 Back Creek Rd., reported to the Greene County Sheriff's Department that the truck
had been stolen.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated at
$9,500.
